A three-year veteran at the senior level, Liukin boasts the most accomplished resume of all active American gymnasts.
In addition to her gold medals, she won silver on the uneven bars at both the World Championships and the Pan American Games in 2007, as well as another silver on the balance beam at the Pan Am Games.
Both of Liukin's parents were gymnasts. Her father and coach Valeri Liukin won four medals at the 1988 Seoul Games, and her mother Anna Liukin competed in rhythmic gymnastics.
Nastia attends Southern Methodist University.

ms N.B, I like this story. It's good stuff. Although Liukin was outshone on the day technically by the Chinese gymnasts, she is is incredibly and breathtakingly graceful and long-limbed in comparison. (Not to take anything away from the immense qualities of her rivals.) Our British girl, Tweddle, was fantastic, but lacked the balletic grace of Liukin. I can quite see why she is considered a star.
