The State of Maryland and Governor Martin O'Malley became the first US State to proclaim June as NBHHCM 2010 (National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month). The City of Baltimore is the birth-place for NBHHCM. The hoops and hip-hop culture fusion era born in 1984 that is known today as The "Dunkadelic-Era" In America celebrated its 25th Anniversary (1984-2009) in June 2009. To honor the 25th Anniversary of the culture fusion era the month of June was first proclaimed as NBHHCM by former City of Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon. The Dunkadelic terminology was created in Baltimore in 1997.
Current City of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake proclaimed June 2010 as NBHHCM. The City of Baltimore is the only US City to Proclaim June as NBHHCM in 2009 and 2010.
NBHHCM Founder Derrick E. Vaughan will be in New York for Thursday's NBA Draft promoting the "LeBron to New York" campaign. The NBHHCM 2010 City of NY Proclamation was a step in the process to help bring James to the Empire City.
