New Manager for Brighton and Hove Albion

Gus Poyet has been appointed as the manager of the League One Football [Soccer] team Brighton. He will be assisted by Mauricio Tarrico. Tony Bloom who is the chairman of Brighton congratulated him.


Mr. Poyet's contract will expire at the end of the regular football [soccer] season in England. He replaces Russell Slade as manager. The experience of Mr. Poyet took him from his native Urugiay to clubs such as Grenoble, River Plate Montevideo, Real Zaragoza, Chelsea, and Tottenham.


The coaching career took Mr. Poyet to Swindon Town, Leeds United, and Tottenham. His first game is to be played at the southern English town of Southampton.
