The University of Maryland Terrapins unveiled new football uniforms on Monday, August 22, 2011. The new Maryland football uniforms were designed by Under Armor and feature a bold color palette.
The team wore the unis in an early season game against Miami and will wear the new Maryland uniforms during their November 12, 2011 game against Notre Dame.
There are 32 possible variations of the new Maryland uniforms, with sets of black, white, red and gold jerseys and pants and two different helmets.
The idea of several uniform options seems to be a new trend in college football. Oklahoma State recently unveiled uniforms that offer many different looks.
Then there's Oregon, which seems to sport a different Nike uniform every time they take the field.
Reaction to the new Terps football uniforms has been decidedly mixed.
The new Maryland football helmet is interesting, featuring a design that makes it look like a turtle shell.
The new Maryland uniforms are the work of Under Armor, which is based in Baltimore. One writer noted that Maryland is "trying to become Under Armour’s Oregon."
