Richmond is a rapidly-growing city composed of residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural areas on the Pacific Coast of British Columbia, Canada.  Located in the mouth of the Fraser River, with a breathtaking mountain backdrop, it provides a perfect setting for the Olympics. The newly constructed $178 million Olympic Oval, located
in Richmond, British Columbia, has attracted the attention of the people all over Canada.

December 12, 2008 marked the opening of this masterpiece of architecture. It will be the venue for the mens and womens speed skating competition. All the hype, and anticipation was well worth it. I have seen it with my own two eyes. Just about a month ago I went to try it
out for myself, and in my opinion was the most magnificent experience I have ever had. The structure, the ice , the lighting, everything was perfectly positioned to create a fairy tale atmosphere.

It has drawn both kids and adults alike. Being a residence of Richmond I have seen the effects of this structure to our community. It gives kids a reason to go out, rather than just sit at home and play computer games. It provides a recreation right in our backyard. This Truly is a spectacle.

With the approaching 2010 Winter Olympics I believe that the Richmond community has done a great job in fully, using their resources and have truly created an appropriate and magnificent structure that the Richmond community can boast about.
