A new rule in the NHL that was adopted last February is forcing to Detroit Red Wings stars to sit out the teams next game after the All-Star Break, a Tuesday the 27th match-up against The Columbus Blue Jackets. Both Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Lidstrom were voted onto the Western Conference All Star team but opted to sit out the festivities to be rested for the second halk of the season.

Both will miss the Red Wings next game Tuesday night in Columbus under an NHL rule adopted last February that says players who skip the all-star game must demonstrate that they are really injured by sitting out either the game just before or just after the all-star break.

I am going to place this rule beside the Fight Strap rule that suspends players for not having their jersey tied down during the game. That rule was introduced to avoid players having their jersey pulled over their head during a fight.

The things that they are suspending guys for these days would be funny if it weren't so sad.  One game for missing a game determined by a fan vote, also known as a popularity contest, proven to the max by the Montreal fans.  Six games for talking about a former girlfriend.  Shame on you.

Bettman, open your eyes and take a look at what you're shoveling because it isn't improving the game you idiot.
