New York Giants' Plaxico Burress out of hospital after being shot in the leg
New York Giants' wide receiver Plaxico Burress was shot in the leg last night, apparently at a nightclub, but is now out of hospital and faces an extended suspension on the bench.
Burress was hit in the right thigh and some reports are stating that he shot himself by accident. It did not break any bones or hit any major arteries.
The incident suposedly happened at the Latin Quarter nightclub in Manhattan's East Side.
Burress injured a hamstring two weeks ago and had already been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.
But the man who caught the winning pass in the Giants' 2008 Super Bowl win over the New England Patriots now looks set to face an extended spell on the sidelines.
A club statement said: "We are aware of the fact that Plaxico was involved in an apparent accidental shooting last night [Friday]. We have been in contact with Plaxico since shortly after the incident.
