Newcastle Manager Joe Kinnear Launches Profanity-Laced Tirade
Newcastle United's interim manager Joe Kinnear lashed out at reporters yesterday. Kinnear swore more than 40 times in a two-minute rant that was triggered by questions about his decision to give his struggling team the day off on Monday. Days before, the potty-mouthed manager ys after publicly apologized after he swore during a live television interview.
The Irishman, who is also threatening to make his first press conference his last and considering libel action, protested that he was “defenceless” and claimed that he was “ridiculed for no reason”.
“I am annoyed,” Kinnear said. “I am not accepting that. If it is libellous, it is going to where I want it to go.”
Kinnear, who argued that he had been “absolutely crucified in every single newspaper”, was surprisingly appointed to take charge of Newcastle a week ago until owner Mike Ashley sells the club.
“If I’m not flavour of the month for you, it doesn’t bother me,” Kinnear added. “I’ve got a job to do and I’m going to do it to the best of my ability and get on with it.
