Gaines Adams first sack of the 2008 season

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sent DE Gaines Adams to the Chicago Bears for a 2010 second round pick.

Adams, the fourth overall pick of the 2007 draft, was a disappointment for the Bucs.  He recorded a total of 13.5 sacks during his first two seasons.  For the Bucs, they would rather trade Adams and accumulate 2010 draft picks than keep him and hope that he can live up to their original expectations of a 10 sacks/year type player.

The move likely propels Stylez White into the starting role at right defensive end. White has shown flashes this season, leading the team with 11 quarterback pressures. The Bucs also acquired DE Michael Bennett this week and could see rookie fourth-round pick Kyle Moore make his debut on Sunday against the Panthers.
