NHL announces Asian television deal
So the NHL doesn't even have a deal with ESPN and now they have a deal with ASN (All Sports Network) in Asia.
Having been in Asia, I know first of all, no one plays hockey. There are the selected few that does but the majority definitely does not. The hockey discourse in Asia is: fighting. Whenever for some reason, a hockey talk breaks out its always about the fighting.
Well I am not going to go against this deal as I want to watch some hockey when I am in Asia, but I am just surprised ASN is attempting to bring hockey into Asia. I just wonder if anyone else will watch it.
The NHL's television audience is about to grow in an unlikely place.
The league announced Thursday that the Hong Kong-based All Sports Network (ASN) has signed a multi-year deal to obtain rights to show games throughout much of Asia, including India and China.
More than 130 regular-season games will be televised on ASN's channel Yes TV along with the all-star game, playoffs, Stanley Cup final and NHL highlight programs.

A simple idea for a photo. I snapped this in GM Place. In case you can't tell, it's of the little NHL logo on the boards.
