Nike Plus Human Race Global Highlights 2

It is official. Nike+ Human Race, October 24 2009. on Twitpic

The 2009 Nike Human Race is back for its second year. The event will be taking place on October 24th worldwide and online registration is now open.

What is the Nike Human Race? Basically it is a multi-city event for "celebrating the report of running by giving runners everywhere the opportunity to run together." Last year, there were nearly 780,000 participants joining the event from more than 24 cities, including New York City, Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, and Rome.

Runners who sign up on the Nike web site will be able to run a 10K race at home on the treadmill, or around your favorite hometown running loop, or with a group in selected cities because the race is logged virtually.
In addition to the virtual races around the globe via Nikeplus.com, Nike is hosting actual race events in cities including New York City, Los Angeles, Rio de Janeiro, Berlin and Sydney.

In both virtual and actual race events, registered runners can track and upload their runs through Nikeplus.com.

You can click here to become a Nike+ member and click here to register for this year's race.

I've been running since 2007 and I've always missed the nike runs... finally, I am making it this year (2009)! I'm absolutely ecstatic!

I totally don't understand this. Why pay £20 to Nike to run around a park? I say run around the park for free and give the money to charity.

Most races do support some sort of charity, so I understand where you are coming from.Nike does a whole bunch of function/training programs and gives  back to those who train with them.  Most of there events/goodies advice ect.. is always free so 30-40 bucks isn't really much if you participate with them throughout the year.

How do I sign up for this event in Chicago.  Having a hard time finding a registering web page.  Been trying for weeks but no luck.

We run virtual races every month in a different virtual location, raising money for pancreatic cancer.  Walk or run a 5K wherever you are, we send you virtual bibs, goody bags, playlists.  ALL money goes to pancreatic cancer research.  Please join us www.firstgiving.com/funforacause.  Supporting the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer
