Olympic Gold medal for bravery by alfred ng

As the Beijing Olympic coming toward the end with no doubt China has hosted a great Olympic with many memorable moments. There were amazing performance by the medal winning athletes however, it was the elderly women Wang Xiu Ying and Wu Dian Yuan are truly deserved a Olympic Gold Medal for their bravery. Both Ms Wang, 77 nearly blind and Ms Wu, 79, they following the ancient Chinese tradition of seeking justice in the capital: wanted to protest the lost of their home after they were forcibly evicted by local authorities. They had gone to the police five times between August 5 and August 18 to apply for permit to demonstrate at the designated zone. The women were interrogated by police for 10 hours and eventually ordered to serve a year “re-education through labour”!  Earlier this week, it was reported police had received 77 applications but none had been approved. No news on what happen to the hopeful protesters.
