Looking through the list of 50 from Asif DAR to Walter HENRY gives one a great cross section of the history of amateur boxing in Ontario. Some of the 50 went on to be recognized in the pro boxing ranks such as SAMMY LUFTSPRING, EARL WALLS, GEORGE CHUVALO, IAN CLYDE, NICKY FURLANO, LENNOX LEWIS and BILLY IRWIN. Others such as STEVE MOLITOR and TROY ROSS are still active pro boxers. Some of them are great All-rounders such as JOE SANDULO who was an Olympic boxer then went on to be the man behind the Beaver Boxing Club in Ottawa.Looking from the period 1990 to 2000, one name that stands high on the list of great Ontario and canadian boxers was MICHAEL STRANGE with International tournaments that range from the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle, to the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, BC to the 2000 Olympic Games. In 2012, Strange ran from Thunder Bay, Ontario to Victoria, BV to raise funds to help fight against Cancer of children.
