O's new team nickname Buck "The Sho" Walter & the O-Fresh Crew
April 5, 2013- The Baltimore Orioles will be making their 2013 season home debut this afternoon vs. the Minnesota Twins. The O's won 2 out of 3 games vs. division rival Tampa Bay Rays to open the season on the road.
The Orioles will also have a new team nickname when they take the field courtesy of Dunkadelic Sports Marketing.
Buck "The Sho" Walter & the O-Fresh Crew is the new nickname. The nickname is a throwback to old-school hip-hop of the mid-1980's. Team manager Buck Showalter runs "The Show" and his squad is a young exciting team "The O-Fresh Crew."
The nickname was also inspired by 80's rap pioneer Doug E. Fresh & the Get Fresh Crew.
Derrick E. Vaughan of Dunkadelic Sports Marketing says, "the nickname incorporates the team manager (Buck Showalter) who is an old-school skipper, and his young team that is new-school (Fresh on the Scene). I think the nickname will be popular with fans, t-shirts and posters will for sure show up at Camden Yards. It will be a whole lot of fun for the entire City of Baltimore."
The Orioles went back to their old-school logo last-season with much success. The O's made the playoffs for the first time in 15-years. The logo became "Fresh" again and helped in fan interest of the team. It's not La Di Da Di, its an O-Fresh Party.
