Oscar Pistorius, known as 'Blade Runner' competed in the BT Paralympic World Cup in Manchester on the 24 May 2009. Sunny and warm conditions in Manchester helped the 27 paralympic athletic events to go ahead in unusally summery weather. Running in two events the 100 m and the 400 m, Oscar did not break any records in Manchester but his 11.13 seconds in the 100 m and 50.28 for the 400 m would be great for an able bodied runner, Oscars 400 m time being a championship record.
