Isis versus Goldie - 2008 Boat Race Reserves

The Boat Race is an annual event in which crews from Oxford and Cambridge Universities compete in rowing in Thames River. The race exists since 1829 and since 1856 it is held annually in the begining of spring.

The crews (eight rowers and a cox) are dressed in dark blue for Oxford and light blue for Cambridge and the boats are called "The Blue Boats".

Lots of people tend to watch the race from the banks of Thames and is a well celebrated event.

This year's winner was Oxford's crew, which completed the race in 20' 52'', the slowest time since 1947, probably among others because of the rainy weather. It's noteworthy that in the big bend in the middle of the course, near Hammersmith Bridge, Oxford's boat was behind Cambridge's.

With this victory Oxford reached the 74, while Cambridge leads with 79.
