Ricky Hatton Talks About Pacquiao Fight ( Interview Jan 23rd )

The Pacquiao and Hatton fight is back on and set for May 2 in Las Vegas. It was originally called off due to financial issues and conflicts from revenue split.
Pacquiao orginally wanted a 60-40 split meaning that he was recognized as the principle draw. Rumours now have Pacquiao agreeing to a 52-48 split purse that could be worth between $20-40m depending on the Pay-Per-View audience.

In news that should come as a surprise to absolutely no one, the Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton fight is back on, with two of the best and most popular boxers in the world ready to meet in the ring on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao just recently defeated Oscar De La Hoya and was also named Sports Illustrated boxer of the year.

Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs), the junior welterweight world champion, would defend his 140-pound title against Pacquiao, the pound-for-pound king who on Dec. 6 dominated Oscar De La Hoya en route to an eighth-round TKO in a welterweight fight at the MGM Grand.

Bloggers are starting to ask the question whether this event will be a historic match or a complete mismatch. They believe Pacquiao already has a place in history for being the only champion in the 112 and 126lbs group and does not need to fight Hatton.

This is sure to be a historic match drawing attention from around the world as Hatton is from England and Pacquiao from the Philippines. Pacquiao and De La Hoya was the talk of the boxing world in 2008, but this fight is sure to top that one as Pacquiao will be ringside to watch Margarito fight Shane Mosley in Los Angeles.

The fight is now expected to be staged either at the MGM Grand Garden or the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, and the pre-fight hype will be stepped up at the weekend when Pacquiao is expected to be at ringside to watch Antonio Margarito defend the WBA world welterweight title against 'Sugar' Shane Mosley in Los Angeles.
