Pacquiao v. Mayweather set for 2010: Mayweather agrees to fight
Floyd Mayweather agreed to terms to fight Manny Pacquiao for the welterweight title bout. The proposed date is March 13, 2010, although it could get pushed back to May 1, 2010. Mayweather is okay with either date.
At this point, Pacquiao has yet to agree to the fight. Top Rank's Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter, was flying out on Tuesday to the Philippines to seal the deal.
The fight will most likely be contested at the 147 pound welterweight limit. Because this fight is still in the negotiation stage, the money split, ring size, glove size, location, or date have not been finalized.
Mayweather agreed to terms for the welterweight title bout on Tuesday, multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations told ESPN.com.
The Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will undoubtedly be the greatest bout of the 21 century. Mayweather's has an unblemished career record (40-0, 25 KOs) and is considered by many people to be the greatest pound for pound fighter of the last twenty years. Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KOs), the only fighter to win seven titles in seven different weight classes, also has a great claim to the title of best pound for pound fighter.
