Shahid Afridi, the Pakistan captain who was stripped from the captaincy for the two matches against Ireland, has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons.
"Afridi has informed PCB that due to the illness of his father he had to stay longer in USA, so he would be unable to join the squad for Ireland." PCB spokesman Nadeem Sarwar said.
Afridi's pull-out comes after days of speculation about his unhappiness at the decision to remove him as captain, with rumors even suggesting he would retire from cricket altogether.
Pakistan arrive straight from the West Indies, where they drew the two-Test series 1-1.
