The NHL levied a hefty $10,000 fine to Edmonton Oilers head coach Pat Quinn for his remarks about Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla. His exact comments that got him in trouble were,
"If that had happened in the old days, [Iginla] would have got hit over the head with a stick right after," Quinn fumed. "That's the way you used to deal with it. Now you can't touch him. It was a pretty dirty play, in my opinion."
Quinn insisted he was unimpressed when Oilers captain Ethan Moreau fought Iginla after the Souray incident. "That's not addressing it," Quinn said. "In the era I come from, you're supposed to do dirt with dirt. You don't give him honour [with a fair fight]." Iginla said the trip was an accident and was happy that no one hit him over the head with a stick. "I don't think that's the way it goes," he said.

I guess that's pocket change for the Oilers coach. I'm glad that we don.t allow hitting over the head anymore. There is enough violence in Hockey without it.
I didn't think referring to the good ole days of hockey, without encouraging players to do so, is a crime.
Go Oilers.
