Chicago Blackhawks rising star Patrick Kane has issued an apology for his role in the incident involving the beating of Jan Radecki -- a taxi driver who drove Kane and his cousin in the early morning on August 9 in Buffalo, NY. It was alleged Kane and his cousin have beaten up the taxi driver because the later was unable to provide 20 cents change from the $15 paid by Kane. After the incident, Kane was charged with theft of services, criminal mischief and robbery. Kane did not disclose the details of what happened, but said he was sorry. Kane has never mentioned the taxi driver he beat up or apologized directly to him. Kane only said he "caused a lot of pain for [his] family, [his] hometown of Buffalo, the city of Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks and ... fans."

"I know everyone wants to talk about what happened in Buffalo. As you know the legal proceedings are pending and I cannot discuss the details at this time. Because I put myself in the wrong position at the wrong time I have caused a lot of pain for my family my hometown Buffalo, the city of Chicago, the Chicago Blackhawks and obviously the great fans that live here in Chicago. For that part, I sincerely apologize.

"Now it's time for me to move forward. I'm excited to get back on the ice and represent the Chicago Blackhawks and the United States Olympic hockey team."

Kane and his cousin, James Kane, were arrested by Buffalo police Aug. 9 after the cabbie reported that he was beat up by the pair. The Kanes pleaded not guilty to robbery and other charges after spending more than two hours in jail.
