Pedro Martinez 'Who's Your Daddy?' Video: 2009 World Series Chant
Phillies and Yankees can debate all day long as to which team will win Game 2 of the 2009 World Series. One thing that is beyond debate is that fans at Yankees Stadium will be giving Phillies starting pitcher Pedro Martinez a hard time. It's a safe bet that fans will welcome Pedro Martinez with a "Who's your Daddy?" chant. During the 2004 ALCS, Yankees fans regularly chanted "Who's Your Daddy?" when the Dominican pitcher, then with the Boston Red Sox, was on the mound.
So why do Yankee fans chant "Who's Your Daddy?" to Pedro Martinez? The chant dates back to the 2004 season, after Martinez made some comments during a post-game interview after a tough loss:
"They beat me. They're that good right now. They're that hot. I just tip my hat and call the Yankees my daddy."
Ever since then, Pedro Martinez has been associated with the phrase "Who's Your Daddy?" Don't be surprised if Yankees fans start the "Who's Your Daddy?" chant early and often.

Thank you for reminding us of how that chant came about. Here in Philly, the press is talking about how Pedro kept his back to the Yankees during pre-game introductions last night. That's his competitive spirit!
