Welwyn Garden City in Herfordshire hosted the Garden City 10 mile race today. 503 runners crossed the start line at 10.30 on a cool, damp morning, perfect conditions for the race.

This year's event was in aid of the Willow Foundation, a charity which organises special days for seriously ill young children.

The winner of the men's race, Dave Mitchinson of Newham and Essex Beagles, crossed the line in a new course record of 51 minutes and 39 seconds. The ladies race was won by Helen Decker of Ipswich Jaffa Running club, in a time of 58 minutes and 59 seconds.
