The Philadelphia Distance Run 2009 was won by Ryan Hall, the first American to win the 21.1-kilometre race since 1986. Hall finished the race in a near-record time of 1 hour 1 minute 52 seconds.
Hall beat out three Kenyan runners, Sammy Ndereba, Benjamin Limo and Valentine Orare.
Catherine Ndereba, the sister of Sammy Ndereba, won the women's title with a time of 1:09.43. She beat fellow Kenyan Irene Limika by just three seconds.
About 14,000 runners took part in the Philadelphia Distance Run 2009.

Good report. I'm glad Ryan Hall won. If I'm not mistaken, he was one of the U.S.'s marathon runners in the Beijing Olympics. He came through in a big race here in Philadelphia. The weather was outstanding (warm and sunny today).
