Pittsburgh Penguins Stanley Cup Parade Draws Thousands
The NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins celebrated their Stanley Cup victory with a victory parade The Pens parade drew thousands of fans to Pittsburgh's downtown core to celebrate the team's third Stanley Cup win and second major team championship this year. In January, the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers won their sixth Super Bowl.
Leading the way were Penguins star Sidney Crosby and Marc-Andre Fleury who rode in a truck alongside Lord Stanley's Cup. Playoff MVP Evgeni Malkin was accompanied by the Conn Smythe trophy he won as the playoffs most valuable player.
Fans lined the Pittsburgh Penguins parade route, wearing Penguins paraphenalia and holding homemade tinfoil copies of the Stanley Cup.
Penguins players and management later addressed the fans. For many, the highlight was when Crosby told the crowd that he wasn't satisfied with just one Stanley Cup ring.
"We want to go for more," Crosby said.
"I just want to say it was a privilege and an honour to go through this with everyone," he added. "We've all dreamed of doing this, and let's do it again some other time."
