Portland Timbers National Anthem Video: Fans Sing at Home Opener
The Portland Timbers had their first ever home game on Thursday, April 14, 2011 and it seemed like they had a pretty good time. The Timbers crowd was pretty spirited for their home opener, particularly during the national anthem.
Instead of having a singer belt out the Star-Spangled Banner, they had the fans sing the national anthem and the results are pretty sweet.
The Timbers likely got the idea for the fan-led national anthem the NHL's Edmonton Oilers, which asked its fans to sing 'O Canada' prior to a playoff game.
Timbers fans were asked to sing the national anthem and they it's hard to think of a singer who could have done a better job.
On top of the national anthem, the Timbers also have Timber Joey, a crazed lumberjack who saws a log with a chainsaw every time the Timbers score a goal.
