In recent months there have been a flurry of tragic sports stories from Athletics to Boxing.

One recent case is the death of 19 year old LEON ROACH, UC san Diego Pole Vaulter following a tragic accident/

In boxing there has been the recent deaths of Alexis Arguello, Arturo Gatti, Vernon Forrest, Mark Leduc and Darren Sutherland.

Looking back over the decades  there have been countless stories of tragedy such as the Munich Air Disaster and the loss of member of the Manchester United football/soccer club in 1958.  Then fast forward to 1980 and the air disaster in Poland and loss of members of the 1980 USA Olympic Boxing Team.  And in 2009, there is the anniversary of the stadium tragedy in England that resulted in multiple deaths of soccer fans.

Vehicle accidents have taken it's toll on the sporting world with such deaths as Oregon's STEVE PREFONTAINE and many others such as the old heavyweight champion JACK JOHNSON and many others.  Other accidents have claimed the likes of ROCKY MARCIANO,  MARCEL CERDAN and ZORA FOLLEY.

There are so many stories of individuals in any sport.  Stories of what could have been.  I heard of so many stories of men who have died who could have been the next Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky.

The link is to some Tragic Boxing comments, photos and links.
One such story and link related to Victor (Young) Perez who met his final fate at the hands of the Nazis in the infamous "Death March" from Auschwitz in WW II.
