KMSP-TV in Minnesota has gotten itself quite a scoop. The FOX affiliate stated that they have gotten their hands on a new Minnesota Vikings fight song written by none other than Prince himself. The new Prince Vikings song is called "Purple and Gold."

The station revealed the new Prince Minnesota Vikings fight song this evening just in time for the Vikes tilt with the New Orleans Saints in this weekend's NFC championship game.

You can listen to the Prince "Purple and Gold" audio here.

Here are the Purple and Gold lyrics:

the veil of the sky draws open
the roar of the chariots touch down
we r the ones who have now come again
and walk upon water like solid ground
as we approach the throne we won't bow down
this time we won't b denied

raise every voice and let it b known
in the name of the purple and gold

we come in the name of the purple and gold
all of the odds r in r favor
no prediction 2 bold
we r the truth if the truth can b told
long reign the purple and gold

the eyes say ready 4 battle
no need 4 sword in hand
we r all amped up like a rock n roll band

The fact that Prince has written a song for the Vikings shouldn't come as too big a surprise. The Minnesota native sat in the owner's box during the Vikes playoff win last week over the Dallas Cowboys. Prince said the Vikes win over the Cowboys inspired him to write a new Minnesota Vikings fight song. Less than a week later, he released "Purple and Gold."

Of course, some fans would tell you that the Minnesota Vikings already have a fight song: Brett Favre singing "Pants on the Ground."
