Puck Droppings: Roy to be investigated by police for on ice fight
Later in the day, Quebec’s director of public prosecutions ordered a police investigation into the weekend brawl at a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game that featured the younger Roy pummeling another team’s non-resisting goalie. The fight has temporarily dislodged Quebec’s relentlessly snowy winter as the focus of newscasts and tabloid newspapers in the province.
On Monday, Jonathan Roy apologized for ending the battle with rude hand gestures directed at the crowd. But he was unrepentant about his attack on Bobby Nadeau of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. The younger Roy has been suspended for seven games and fined $500, his father is gone for five games, and a variety of other sanctions were applied to others from both teams. There’s no word on how long the criminal investigation will last but it presumably will rely heavily on videos of the fight.
Quebec lost the game 10-1.

Patrick Roy failed to control his temper often during his career, so it's not a total surprise that his son's a hothead too.
The premeditatedness of the assault is particularly disturbing.
