Puppy Bowl VI is back on February 7th 2010 at 6pm ET on Animal Planet, and this is will be the first year that the Puppy Bowl will be shown on Canadian Animal Planet at 7pm PT

Puppy Bowl VI is an alternative to the Super Bowl,  and is specifically for puppies needing adoption, so for those of you who want a break from football, you can watch cute puppies play some Superbowl of their own.

All of the puppies come from shelters and the Puppy Bowl is an adoption mechanism for dogs needing a home. The puppies this year are all kinds, including bulldogs and beagles and one will win the coveted title of MVP or Most Valuable Puppy.

Animal Planet's very own PUPPY BOWL referee, Andrew Schechter, will also be on hand to keep the players in line and to dole out any necessary "puppy penalties." With instant replays, a water bowl camera and a panoramic aerial blimp, viewers won't miss any of the action on the field.

Don't forget that at halftime, there are the cute cats 'performing' that also need homes, and they will chase each other and play with their toys.

All the puppies come from local SPCA's and shelters as well as pet rescue centers across the US. Petfinder.com has all the information on how to adopt the puppies and kittens seen in the Puppy Bowl.
