Rafael Nadal Kiss Video: US Open Fan Gets Too Close To Nadal
Maybe it's the new haircut, but one male tennis fan found Rafael Nadal so irresistable that he stormed the court at the 2009 US Open and kissed him. The Rafael Nadal kiss occurred after the Spanish star defeated Gael Monfils. At the end of the match, the smitten fan ran out of the stands and approached Nadal. Security quickly intervened, but not before the fan got close to his favorite tennis player.
Rafael Nadal took the whole thing in stride.
"For me, it wasn't a problem," Nadal said. "The guy was really nice. He was a great fan. He said, "I love you," and he kissed me.
The man responsible for the Rafael Nadal kiss was arrested for interfering with a sporting event.
The Nadal kissing incident was the second security breach at a Grand Slam Tournament this year. During the 2009 French Open, a fan jumped onto the court during the men's final and tried to put a hat on Roger Federer's head.

Although it was a breach in security, the fan wasn't malicious. At first I thought it was a female, and it truly took Nadal by surprise as he probably thought it was someone that was part of the venue, so his attitude is one to be admired. I do not think the man should be charged with "interupting a sporting event" as this event was over. Trespassing is a little harsh as he did have a ticket to attend, so unless they post no trespassing around the actual court, what is really the illegal act and is the penalty fitting the "so called" crime. Give the guy a break, he was probably just an overwhelmed Spaniard himself with Nadal's win. Again, koodo's to Nadal for his response. Truly a gentle, gentlemen.

That was an amazing response. That's true sportsmanship regardless of it being a male who kissed him. Being in the public image is hard, Nadal deserves the humanity award not a tennis match trophy. It takes a true leader and a true person to accept anyone, or to forgive someone. Judy Allen is right, temptation gets the best of us lolAs for the act being Criminal? What on earth is Criminal about it. This action requires a slap on the wrist! That's all. This just shows that are system is corrupt and the government can do what they want. Now that's Criminal!

I personally think it is quite sweet. I am not a tennis follower though having just seen Nadal "sans" shirt I may just watch it abit more. (Though he is no match for Valentino Rossi, who IS a God! lol) If only we were all brave enough to see a once in a lifetime opportunity and take it, life may seem a tad happier? I actually applaud the guy who did it. Shame on the lack of life shown by those in their ivory towers! Without the adoration of fans like this the seats would be empty.

Well...I am actually pleased with Rafa's response to the incident but not surprised. He is one classy dude who epitomizes the personality that all superior athletes should embrace. The fan obviously had nothing but love for Rafa and will now as a result of his display of adoration for Rafa and obviously the game will be punished. I love the way Rafa handled the situation and again am not surprised and equally not surprised by the officials considering a harmless act of love "criminal".
