Ravens K.O. Niners at "The Flocktagon" with 9 Sacks in 16-6 Win

November 25, 2011- The Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers entered their Thanksgiving Day 2011 match-up with the Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh showdown as the headliner.

The Niners came to town with a 9-1 record and the second best mark in the NFL behind the Green Bay Packers who were undefeated at 10-0.

The Ravens who played without their fearless leader Ray Lewis dominated the Niners offensive front-line and registered a franchise tying 9 sacks with 44-yards lost from scrimmage. Terrell Suggs was the defensive leader on the field with the absence of Lewis and recorded a team-high 3 sacks.

The 16-6 win may have been the most impressive defense performance by Baltimore since their opening day 35-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This was also the first game that the Ravens played in their newly nicknamed M & T Bank Stadium "The Flocktagon" in front of a sellout crowd of 71,345.

The Ravens defense lived up to "The Flocktagon" moniker in front of a national TV audience. The nickname comes from the Ravens fans that are known as 'The Flock' and the defensive culture of the team that is known around the team like The Pentagon. The Pentagon in Arlington, VA is just 43-miles in distance away. The Pentagon is the headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense.

The Ravens at 8-3 have an inside track to landing home-field advantage through out the playoffs. If the Ravens can win out their schedule the road to the Super Bowl will go through "The Flocktagon" and that will be a tall order for any team to climb.
