Red Sox Brawl Video: Kevin Youkilis Charges Mound
Things got heated during the second inning of Tuesday's game between the Boston Red Sox and Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox brawl started when Kevin Youkilis attacked Detroit hurler Rick Porcello after being hit by a pitch. Youkilis charged the mound and threw his helmet at Porcello.
Porcello may have been motivated by yesterday's Red Sox-Tigers matchup when several players on both teams were hit by pitches.
On Tuesday, Detroit's Miguel Cabrera was hit plunked by Boston pitcher Junichi Tazawa. In the second inning, Porcello brushed back Boston's Victor Martinez. Then came Youk. After he's hit, Youkilis charges the mound and all hell breaks loose. Both teams came out of their respective dugouts and players piled onto each other. No one was injured in the melee.
Both Youkilis and Porcello were thrown out of the game for their role in the Red Sox-Tigers fight.

If we are going to break the trend of pitchers hitting batters in retaliation I think we need stricter punishments. Here is an interesting article about pitcher retaliation: https://www.mindreign.com/en/mindshare/Sports/Hit-By-Pitch/sl40763392bp413cpp10pn1.html
