Ref Hit in Face With Helmet Video: Leon Woods Attacks Pete Mccabe

A referee working a semi-pro football game in New York was attacked by a player who was angry over a loss. A member of the Western New York Cougars reportedly attacked ref Pete McCabe, hitting him in the face with his helmet. McCabe suffered a hairline fracture in his skull. Leon Woods, one of the Cougars players, was charged with two counts of first-degree assault.

While police believe that Leon Woods was behind the Pete McCabe attack, his Western New York Cougars players didn't seem to help matters. After McCabe was attacked, team members reportedly refused to hand over their cel phones so someone could call an ambulance.

Ironically, Pete McCabe was working the game because the original ref backed out due to safety concerns.
