A-Rod World Series Game 3 Home Run Off Camera

A-Rod hit a controversial home run in the fourth inning, Game 3.  The ball landed on top of a FOX camera hanging over right field; it was jutting out over the wall, in fair territory.  MLB.com has an HD video of the play in its entirety.

Umpires consulted instant replay for the first time in postseason history in the fourth inning of Game 3 at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday, overturning the original call of an Alex Rodriguez double and giving the Yankees slugger a homer.

The replays showed pretty conclusively that it was a home run, but what the hell is a FOX camera doing out in fair territory?

“There are 800 players in the big leagues, so what are the odds that I’d be involved in this, 2-1?” Rodriguez said in September 2008. “How do I get myself into this?”

From watching it, I thought it was fair territory.  Good for A Rod.  One step closer to a championship.  Go Yankees!
