Milwaukee Bucks rookie Brandon Jennings scored 55 points in a 129-125 win over the Golden State Warriors. Jennings scored 29 in the third period alone, and all 55 of his points came after he had a scoreless first quarter.
Jennings set the Bucks franchise record for most points in a game by a rookie, a record previously held by Lew Alcindor (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). Alcindor scored 51 points in a game on February 21, 1970.
For Jennings, his record setting 51 points came in only his seventh professional NBA game. Jennings is an early season favorite for the rookie of the year award. He is averaging 20.7 ppg, 4.3 rbp, 5.2 apg for the season.
Just 20 years old, Jennings skipped college and played in Italy last season before entering the NBA as the 10th overall draft pick in 2009. He has jumped at the opportunity to shine on the NBA stage, as he was averaging 20.7 points entering Saturday's game, including a 32-point game Wednesday against Denver.
