Like South Africa, Australia too will hope to give their newly appointed acting coach, Troy Cooley a winning start. Cooley has been named the interim coach for this series following Tim Nielsen's resignation. Australian skipper, Cameron White will be aware how important momentum is on this tour and will do all he can to ensure his team draws first blood.
Brad Haddin's retirement from the T20 format and Tim Paine's injury has resulted in Matthew Wadegetting a look in. Wade is a handy batsman who packs a punch and is equally adept behind the stumps; he will be keen to impress and make the most of the opportunity presented. Patrick Cummins, who has impressed many - including Michael Clarke - with his bowling, will almost certainly play thanks to Brett Lee's absence. Lee misses out on the entire tour due to appendicitis.
The team from Down Under bat deep and are packed with people who can clear the ropes at will but they will be tested against South Africa's wily bowlers. In David Warner and Shane Watson, the Australians have perhaps the most destructive opening pair in the world and they will hope the duo live up to their reputation. With the pitch expected to offer turn, White could be tempted to go in with both Steve O'Keefe and Steven Smith in the bowling department.
