ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Dave Checketts will drop Rush Limbaugh from his group of investors looking to buy the St. Louis Rams.  Although the specific reason has not been made official, it most likely had to do with the mounting public opposition to the controversial conservative radio host.

Many NFL players have spoken out against Limbaugh's bid to buy the Rams.  Among them is NY Jets linebacker Bart Scott, who said,

"I know I wouldn’t want to play for him. He’s a jerk. He’s an (expletive). What he said (about McNabb) was inappropriate and insensitive, totally off-base. He could offer me whatever he wanted, I wouldn’t play for him"

Limbaugh has had a history of making racist, controversial statements against African-Americans, including a statement that he aired on ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" show that ultimately got him fired from the show,

"The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve. The defense carried this team."

The public opposition to Limbaugh may not have been limited to just the players.  Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay predicted that Limbaugh would not have had a chance of gaining the necessary 3/4 approval from the 32 NFL owners to buy the team.

Limbaugh issued a no comment today after the ESPN article was released.  However, he did speak out on his program this morning sounding quite defiant,

"I'm not even thinking of caving. I am not a caver. None of us are. We have been betrayed by too many who have caved. Pioneers take the arrows. We are pioneers. It's a sad thing but our country over 200 years old now needs pioneers all over again, but we do."

No date has yet been set as to when Limbaugh will actually be dismissed.  Dave Checketts will need to find another investor to replace Limbaugh's funds to make the bid more viable.

"I've said many times before, we're all held to a high standard here. I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL -- absolutely not."

It's pretty pathetic to read about how racist Rush Limbaugh is when you have actual racists like Keith Olbermann and the like on TV every night. No, Keith doesn't hate black people, he hates white people. That's the chic position to assume these days. White people are so terrible aren't they? They've only done a few things important things anyway like writing the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution as well as help establish this country. America, a place that offers more opportunity to the individual than any other on earth. So you have these pseudo-intellectuals come on networks like CNN and they sit there, as if anyone really cares about what they have to say, and they get to call R.L. a racist. I'm willing to bet 90% of them have never heard more than the a few sound bytes from him- and yet, they're in a position to pass judgment. Again, it's stylish to attack someone who has values and who speaks out against what is going wrong with out country. SO, Kanye can grab the microphone from a white girl and insult her in front of millions of people- that's fine, no one calls him racist. But if a white person criticizes a black person, or any minority, he/she is immediately labeled a racist by black AND white people. Is that what we've come to accept in this society? Truly, a sad and ominous prediction for the future. Funny thing is, I don't blame black folks for this. Let me just say thanks to Keith, and all you white people who feel good about hating white people, you're really doing America a lot of good- but your time will come and I hope you know that it won't be pleasant.

I have never watched Keith Obermann. Can you provide quotes and examples of him demonstrating his racism against white people? Keep in mind that it is slightly more complicated to use quotes to demonstrate racism against one's own race. Chris Rock has a lot of routines where he pokes fun at his own race, and hardly anyone would consider him racist against black people.
