It will be tough to find him without the GPS working. I hope they locate him.

Do you have anymore information about his background? Like his full name and if he has family, wife and children?

Also who is coordinating the rescue mission? Search and Rescue or military?

Also... I know I am asking a lot of questions... Can you tell me about the World Cup with 120 participants?

Is this the event you are talking about?

Bir-Billing in the Dhauladhar mountain range is known as one of the finest aero sports sites in the world and its name has been included in international paragliding circuits.

More than 100 gliders, including 48 foreigners, participated in the championship held in October 2008. The participants included 10 women.

....

‘So far 40 foreigners and 10 Indian gliders have got themselves registered for the competitions. The number of participants would, of course, increase in the days to come,’ he said.

Currently, 10 gliders from Britain and four from Russia are practising for the event.

Is this the same Alexy who crashed 3 years ago? I know it is a common Russian name.

The Russian paraglider, who had crash landed in the forest area between Chamunda and Jadrangal of Kangra district, has returned safely back, tourism sources said. Though the rescue and retrieval teams had failed in locating the paraglider, identified as Alexy, 35, due to pitch darkness, he himself returned back to his camp.

The NowPublic update

The passport  picture posted earlier is written in Russian and it does say Alex... so I suspect it is his passport.

India may want to keep this incident under wraps, especially if they can't find him.

The thing is, I am sure he wasn't doing this alone... There must have been someone somewhere who saw what happened!

naveenpathania, thank you for this story. I'm curious -- how did you obtain the passport of this gentlman?

Also, in the future, please use appropriate letter case when publishing articles. Keeping your readers informed with any updates is also helpful since it appears that, other than the information you posted here, no other 'news' information is available.
