Sabathia, Yankees reportedly have deal by 158

Several reports state that free agent lefthander CC Sabathia has agreed to a seven-year deal worth at least $160 million with the Yankees.

According to the New York Post , the final hurdle in the deal is Sabathia passing a physical.

ESPN is reporting Sabathia and the Yankees have agreed to the framework of a seven-year deal worth $160 million.

After three consecutive days of meeting with Sabathia -- the third meeting coming Tuesday when Yankees general manager Brian Cashman flew to Sabathia's home in San Francisco -- the Yankees apparently have landed their top free agent target. And they might not be done, as the New York Post reports they now will turn their attention to fellow free agents A.J. Burnett and Derek Lowe, both righthanders.

Sabathia, 28, went 17-10 with a 2.70 ERA overall in 2008, including 11-2 with a 1.65 ERA after being traded to the Brewers.

The Yankees made him an offer on the first day of open free agency, but Sabathia didn't jump at it immediately, as he reportedly was waiting to see if a team from his home state of California would make an offer to rival the Yankees'. The Brewers also were in the mix to re-sign the ace.
