I, for one, hope the sculptor commissioned to create the Sam Bradford statue that will grace Heisman Park in Norman, Okla., will use this doctored photo as his model.  After all, it showcases the Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and 2008 Heisman Trophy winner as a true competitor in a manner that no drop-back-quarterback pose ever could.

In a post on her blog, Oklahoman sportswriter Jennie Carlson writes about the source-unknown photo that began circulating around Sooner Nation soon after sophomore quarterback Bradford won the award as the nation’s most-outstanding college football player.

Capturing the moment during the game against Oklahoma State when Bradford “went helicopter” at the goal line, the photo is jokingly described as as THE “actual” new Bradford statue erected at the memorial park, located across the street from Gaylord Family Memorial Stadium on the campus of the University of Oklahoma.

Of course, the statue has yet to be sculpted, but I truly hope they use this photo as a template.  It will look good next to the statues of OU’s other Heisman Trophy winners:  Billy Vessels (1952), Steve Owens (1969), Billy Sims (1978) and Jason White (2003).

Interesting statue. Victorious moments are always good to commemorate - especially when they're so expressive.
