Samuel Wanjiru Death: Kenyan Marathon Runner Falls to His Death
Kenyan Police Have Not Ruled Out Suicide in the Death of Olympic Marathon Runner Samuel Wanjiru's Death
Olympic marathon runner - the first Kenyan to win a gold medal in the event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics - jumped off the balcony of his home late on Sunday night.
Jaspher Ombati, the regional police chief for the area, said Wanjiru appeared to have suffered internal injuries after the fall and was confirmed dead by doctors at a nearby hospital.
“I can confirm that Wanjiru is dead. It is not yet clear whether it was a suicide or if he jumped out of rage, or what caused him to fall to the ground,” Ombati told Reuters.
Wanjiru, who also won both the Chicago and London marathons, may have been involved in a possible love triangle, after his wife came home and reportedly found him in bed with another woman.
His wife had then locked the couple in the bedroom and ran outside, and that is when Wanjiru jumped off the balcony.
Last December he was charged in court with threatening to kill his wife, and illegally possessing an AK-47 rifle. The charges were later dropped by his wife who said the couple had reconciled.

The moment you feel that there is a dent in your marriage, fix it or leave; don't try to reconcile before sorting our the initial issue, it will just pop up again, reloaded and amplified. They shoulda separated after the AK47 issue and left it at that. May he RIP. What a waste of a young life and talent.

This shows how irresponsible, insensitive and careless Kenyan men have become. A very young and important person we have lost because of silly mistake. please lets act responsibly and respect our matrimonial beds and if you have to do it please do it far from home.May his Saul rest in peace and God to give comfort to his family.

May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family One advert comes to mind....wacha mpango wa kando. With those "alliances" both parties always start and end as losers. Always

Just recalled the full phrase - Fanya hiyo hesabu. Wachana na mpango wa kando. Uridhi wako, familia yako, mali yako, heshima yako......its not worth it

It's quite sad to see such a young Kenyan full of potential and hope go down under such embarassing circumstances. We should as a society however not take it in regret but adopt it as a learning curve. Most young men & women who come into contact with a lot of money in their early age might not be fully informed on how to behave, protect themselves and invest wisely, the consequences can be fatal as witnessed here. Young footballers & others in the sporting world in Europe and America have occasionally fallen into the same trap because they do not allow themselves to be guided by older, experienced & trusted mature people. They run wild!
Let's pray for our future stars, leaders and other great personalities who carry our national flag and make us proud that they will be more responsible. May he rest in peace.

Success needs to be managed. Not just by the successful individual but by all who enjoy the fruits of ones success. Was he managing the success single handedly? i guess so. RIP runner and you ran too fast to the end.

wisdom helps us make a life, while knowledge helps us make a living. i won't buy the suicide story it's just too simple, sorry to say so but whoever knew this guy knows that his arrogance would not let him jump to suicide coz of a mpango wa kando. Actually, he had the guts to bring the lady home, hence i pose? do you think this guy commited suicide?
secondly 'kenyan men' no please, why is it that nobody is talking of his escort, are kenyan ladies allowed leeway when it comes to virtues?
let's look at the bigger picture

I regret the death of Wanjiru. Its is unbelieveble, espicially considering his bright career, his age,his family, and the cause of his death. Its now the time that the Govenment ensures such celeberities are accorded maximum survelliance,to avoid them messing around.

Why am i not surprised. When the guy was hassling, he was a faithful loving husband, when the bucks came in, wifie was no longer enough for him, he needed more and more women to satisfy his new ego. But surely, in your matrimonial bed! cmmon this is just not on!!! Its is wrong in the sight of God and man or is it women... And mother inlaw... you never helped these 2 people positively when they had domes!! so you are just as bad. Its very very unfortunate.....tammaaaa ndio hiyo, condolences to family, especially the little ones.
