Santos TDU Results Stage 3
Santos Tour Down Under cycling race has completed Stage 3. The Santos TDU is the largest southern hemisphere road race and starts off the professional cycling season.
The 132 km race took only 3 hours 14 minutes in 40 degree heat. Some hilly sections tested out the conditioning of the athletes.
Australian, Cadel Evans,riding for wild card team BMC Racing Team, crossed the finish in third place. Alejandro Valverde, Caisse de'Eparngne, crossed in second place.

As in the Tour de France, the overall winner of the race is determined on elapsed time. Andre Greipel maintains the overall lead at this time.
Hard luck hit American, George Hincapie, riding for BMC Racing Team, who had a hard crash in the stage. He completed the stage after seeking some medical fix up. Team Rabobank has lost one rider, Pieter Weening.
Stage 4 of the Tour Down Under is a nearly 150 km slog from Norwood to Goolwa
