Welcome, and thanks for joining me. This is my first post of many more to come. I will be updating
everyone on everything from scores to sports news (as well as my own
opinions and picks). First thing you should know about me is that I am
from Seattle and although I now live in Orange County, CA...I do love
my Seahawks and Mariners. I'll make sure that doesn't get in the way of
my sports reporting.

Luckily for me, my first post happens
to come on a night when the Seahawks (home) took on the San Fransisco
49'ers (away) in a Monday Night Football showdown (ESPN). The Hawks
looked sharper than ever on their Monday night season debut, blanking
the (2-6) 49'ers, 24-0. Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren said earlier this
week that we would see a return to the passing game after a
disappointing start for Shaun Alexander; who has yet to reach 500 yards
on the season and has a mere 2 TDs to his name thus far. Hasselbeck
embraced the new game plan airing it out with 278 yards and 2 TDs as
well as a complimentary 16 rushing yards on 6 attempts. However,
back-up running back Mo Morris (in for the injured S. Alexander) wasn't
completely satisfied with Holmgren's game plan, and decided to add his
own 87 rushing yards and a TD to boot.

Alex Smith and the 49'ers looked nothing short of confused all night and couldn't seem to get anything
going. Even with a chance to put six on the board on a 4th and 1
attempt on the goal-line, the Seahawks' defense stepped up big and
stuffed 49'ers RB Frank Gore for a loss of 1 on the play. San Fransisco
felt the wrath of 10 penalties for 53 yards Monday night with the crowd
noise never relenting.

(NOTE: This brings the Seahawks to 5 shutouts all-time on Monday Night Football, which is the current record)

Here are a few notes from NFL.com.

-NFL.com-

It was over when ...
The
49ers, trailing 17-0, failed on fourth-and-1 from the Seahawks 2-yard
line with 9:50 left in the third quarter, squelching their best scoring
chance of the evening. The 49ers had the ball on the Seahawks 23 and
faced a fourth-and-3 on their next possession, but again failed to
convert. The 49ers never again put together a credible scoring threat.

Matt Hasselbeck will have to ice his arm after attempting 40 passes on Monday night.

Game balls
Seahawks receiver D.J. Hackett got a chance to shine in the absence of Deion Branch, recording eight receptions for 101 yards and scoring on a 10-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Safety Jordan Babineaux sacked 49ers quarterback Alex Smith late in the first half with San Francisco on the Seattle 31. The Seahawks' Darryl Tapp recovered the fumble to snuff out the 49ers' scoring drive.

Key stat
The
49ers were 1-for-12 on third down conversions and did not convert their
first third down until there was 7:46 left in the fourth quarter; the
49ers were 0-for-9 up to that point.

Noteworthy
The
49ers were shut out for the first time this season and have scored a
total of three points in two games against the Seahawks this year. ...
Price is Right host and comedian Drew Carey hoisted Seattle's 12th man
flag at the start of the game. Carey is a minority investor in the MLS
team headed for Seattle.

Nice job. The only advice I would give you is to be careful using copyrighted images in your stories. If you can, always search on Flickr first and possibly youtube for content than can be legally shared under Creative Commons licenses. Always better to be safe than sorry!:-)

Cool, this is great. I like the sub-headings you've made. They help break the story down into managable chunks. I'd also echo Christopher's comment about using copyrighted images. Flickr fan photos are a good choice if you can find them. Good stuff.

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll keep that in mind next time with the pictures, you are probably right. Thanks again!

It all came together for the Seahawks - the rain and wind ended just as one of the worst passing defences in the league took the field. Actually, the Seahawks own passing defense is only slightly better - but they may have turned the corner. Or what is Alex Smith?

Don't forget about the 49'ers offense...it's lacking to say the least.

Lacking to say the least is very true. However, this was definately the most comprehesive win for the Seahawks this season. They were truly firing on all cylinders this week. It really showed on that goaline 4th and 1 stop. The 49ers just never had a chance. Thats the mark of a solid football team. Again, thanks for the comments guys!

But let's be real. The NFC is weak across the board unfortunately...:-(

So very true. We'll have to see what NFC emerge as the best of the worst over the next few weeks. After this week I see promise from Dallas, Seattle, Green Bay and even though they lost, the Giants. It is a very weak conference over all though. That much is for sure.
