Oregon's Stuart Burton and Annie Thiessen of Tacoma, WA were the winners of the 2008 Seattle Marathon.

Burton, who works for Nike as a technician, finished the 26.2-mile route in 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 57 seconds. Thiessen took 3 hours, 2 minutes, and 6 seconds. It was the first winning result at the Seattle Marathon for both runners.

Burton beat University of Washington runner Caleb Knox by just 16 seconds.  As for Thiessen, her positive result marks her eighth victory of the year and the 30th of her 13-year career.

Despite the wet weather, a record 12,400 runners took part in the 2008 Seattle Marathon.

It was actually not wet at all. It was misty, but a really beautiful day for a marathon. In fact, we couldn't have asked for better weather!
