Williams defeated Russia’s Dementieva 6-3 6-4 in 99 minutes.
Serena is looking for her 4th Australian title. Today she faced Olympic Gold Medalilst Elena Dementieva in the Rod Laver arena. Dementieva had been victorious in their last three encounters, but not today.
The pair went into the match with Williams holding a 4-3 win-loss record but Dementieva had won the past three meetings, including their semi-final in Sydney this year.
Williams will face the winner of the second semi-final between Russians Vera Zvonareva and Dinara Safina.
Williams won the Australian Open in 2003, 2005 and 2007. She now has a chance at her 10th Grand Slam as well.

Despite the rising mercury, Serena remained cool and calm during the women's doubles match against Aussies Sam Stosur and Rennae Stubbs.
