LAS VEGAS - Ricky Hatton was advised to hang up his gloves for good by his own trainer after being knocked out here Saturday by Manny Pacquiao in a fight that ended with the Englishman flat on his back.
Filipino southpaw Pacquiao captured a world title in his record-tying sixth weight class by taking Hatton's International Boxing Organization junior welterweight crown one second before the end of the second round.
A powerful left hand to the jaw sent Hatton to the canvas unconscious and on his back when referee Kenny Bayless ended the fight. Hatton fell to 45-2, his only prior loss to Floyd Mayweather Jnr in the same ring 17 months earlier.
Floyd Mayweather Snr, Hatton's trainer, said that after two devastating defeats, the "Hitman" should call it a day.
"I would suggest he retire. At the end of the day it's his decision," said Mayweather Snr. "He tried twice. He failed twice. He lost to my son and to lose to someone below that, it's time to leave the ring.
"He made a good profit. Sometimes you have to go when your prime is still there."
Mayweather Snr hinted that even if Hatton does continue fighting, he will never be the same after the punishing blow Pacquiao landed to finish him.
"A lot of times in boxing when a fighter gets knocked out - I'm not saying this particularly about Ricky - they are just not the same anymore," Mayweather Snr said.
It was another eventful Sunday for Filipinos...
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather both made their claims as the world's best pound-for- pound fighter, A ferfect match?

“I can’t see his punches. It’s just to fast,” bulalas ng kaispar ni Pacquiao na si David Rodela ng Oxnard, California...

Well I am off to Cebu on monday on business anyway so when Pacman wins today (tomorrow in fact because of the time difference) I have a two day break from a very annoyed filipina, lol
I was of course joking she will not really be that annoyed as with Packman my true love has a crush on my country and home town of London. Remembering that he named is daughter after Queen Elizabeth II. I met Pacman 6 years ago or so in Liloan Cebu his brother lives in Consulation. He is a very nice person one of the good guys in sport he loves play chess, he used train in Catarman Lilioan very near where I lived till he changed his manager and went to Manila.
Once he got on the same jeepney about 3 years ago and we struck up a polite conversation just a greeting from two people who knew each other, he said he was going to see his brother. My partner said when Packman got off, hey your friend looks like Pacman. She didn't believe me when I said it was, lol.
So I am sold on Pacman even though he is fighting a fellow country man. I think even if Pacman looses he will glad that it was a British guy that takes away his title because he can claim a rematch and fight in UK it of couse would be a London venue as like I am love with your country the Philippines. Pacman loves London and Great Britian.

Laurente, Melligen and Farenas (All Won 3 For 3) 'At Hard Rock Hotel & Casino'
Filipinos in the Philippines and all over the world should be pleased to know that GAB commissioner, Mr. Monju Guanzon and its Boxing Division Chief, Dr. Nasser Cruz are in Las Vegas not only to lend support to Manny Pacquiao but also to our upcoming boxing stars and witnessed personally how Laurente, Melligen and Farenas brought havoc to their respective opponents today at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. They were so pleased and all smiles of the outcome as if it’s a good start for Filipino boxers of what promised to be a great weekend for the Filipinos.
Michael Farenas put an exclamation point to this great boxing event by putting a very short work on his opponent Walter Estrada of Colombia with a left hook that sent Estrada down to the canvas almost before the first round ends and sent the spectators to their feet and like Estrada were astounded by how fast the fight ended. As I said in my previous article, Farenas left hook is more powerful that his chinky eyes and no doubt, Estrada, unluckily today was at its receiving end.
Gerry Penalosa along with his family (wife, Goody; 9-year old son, Julio Cezar; 7-year old daughter, Julian; mother, Virgie and Aunt) were also in attendance to lend their support, most especially, to his protégé, Michael Farenas.

Ricky Hatton heads into his light-welterweight super-fight against Manny Pacquiao with his trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr admitting that there have been "problems" in their camp.
Hatton has been unhappy with Mayweather's punctuality for training sessions, but the American tried to play down the issue ahead of Saturday night's clash in Las Vegas... (source: http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SPORT/05/01/boxing.hatton/index.html?section=cnn_latest)

Hi, there! Babel, Ann'''''' Sorry! for having late again... were very busy now in the project, and we've a very poor signal "server" everytime, maybe this time, we need to upgrade... Lol!
And i feel sorry also, to my kababayan, the travellers the tourist, who got stranded in major ports in "Bicol Region" and don't have the chance to see the "Pacquiao-Hatton Match." because of the disturbance of Tropical Storm "Dante"(international name "Kujira") of the continuing "Havoc" of rains and gusty winds, floodings and the landslide in Sorsogon (my province) ... My wife also told me that they missed the Pacquiao-Hatton Match Live, because the sattelite tower was damage by the typoon...
Yeah! Manny Pacquiao now is Truly A Boxing Legend... Imagine! in just a short time for him to raised his record to 47-3-2 with 37 knockouts...
On the first round, the 16,262 paying fans at the MGM Grand were shocked with the right hook that first sent Hatton on the canvas with barely 51 seconds that took him on mandatory eight-count, but Pacquiao followed-up with a left and right combination that the Briton put him down in the corner of the ring, Hatton finally recovered in the second round, but only to recieved a left hook punch on the jaw that fell him straight down again on the canvas and flattened him for several minutes with ring officials and physicians attending on him.
Aside for clinching his 5th world title in different division, he is the only boxer who fought in four successive fight, and won them all. If we recall, Pacquiao took away Juan Manuel Marquez, WBC (130-pound title) snatched David Diaz's 135 crown, and then stopped Oscar De La Hoya in a 147-pound nontitle match... and now he did it again in just % minutes and 59 seconds (first round to second) "The Battle Of East And West" on May 02. was over... Also Top Rank promoter, the celebrated trainer Bob Arum, said that Manny Pacquiao is the greatest boxer ever live...
Another Filipino boxer, Bernabe Concepcion, under-card won by unanimous decision over Yogli Herrera in his debut as limelight..
In to the ring my favorite legendary singer Tom Jones, sang "God Save The Queen" Fil-Am Jasmine Villegas, The "Star-Spangled Banner" and our very-own Martin Nievera, rendered the "Lupang Hinirang" before Pacquiao and Hatton, made there way into the ring... Maraming salamat! MABUHAY Kayo! :D
