Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will miss tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks due to a "lower body" injury. Recent speculations suggest that it is his left knee but the Penguins are keeping a tight lid on any details surrounding the location and severity of the injury. It was a collision with Washington Capitals forward Dave Steckel on Wednesday night that is to blame.

"I don't feel comfortable enough to play," Crosby told the team's website after Friday's practice. "It didn't feel good. That was the first time I skated since it happened. No go."

Although Crosby is held high in the hockey world he has a tendency to sustain injuries that keep him off the bench for extended periods of time. Last season Crosby was out of the line up for 29 games with a high ankle sprain.

The Penguins coach Michel Therrien announced today that they will also be playing tonight with out forward Maxime Talbot and defencemen Kris Letang and Rob Scuderi due to other various injuries.

This is a big blow to the surging Pens. Anytime you loose a player for stretch your team suffers, but when you loose Sid for more than one game you are in a bad way.

There's not going to be much left of the Eastern Starting Lineup at this pace... Carey Price is out (who is arguably, with Markov, one of the two Habs that should have been included in the game). On the upside now Ovechkin can suit up for the puck drop.

We'll see how the Pens react - there has been a lot of talk about problems in the dressing room, we'll see if this changes anything.

please fire Michel Therrien already!  hire Pat Quinn or let Crosby coach!
