Sidney Crosby wins Lou Marsh award

One of my friends recently commented that Crosby looks a lot like Andy Samberg from SNL (Lazy Sunday, Dick in a Box etc.), and I think he or she was right.
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby has been named the winner of this year’s Lou Marsh Trophy honouring Canada’s top athlete. The 20-year-old centre from Cole Harbour, N.S., in just his third season with the Penguins, won the NHL’s scoring championship last season and the Art Ross Trophy that goes with that distinction, as well as the Hart Trophy for league MVP and the Pearson Award for top player voted on by his playing peers.
Having turned 20 in August, Crosby became the youngest player to win the scoring title (tallying 36 goals and 84 assists) and was also youngest ever to be named to the league’s first all-star team.
Crosby becomes the first hockey player since Mario Lemieux in 1993 to win the Lou Marsh award, voted on by a panel of sports editors, broadcasters and sports personalities.
The trophy was first awarded in 1936 in the name of Marsh, the longtime editor of the Toronto Star and a former NHL and boxing referee.
Crosby emerged on top out of a strong field of contenders headlined by basketball’s Steve Nash (winner in 2005), skier Erik Guay, third in the World Cup downhill standings last season, IBF world super bantamweight boxing champion Steve Molitor and kayak world champion Adam Van Koeverden.

Crosby is the obvious choice and is very deserving of this award, I expect him to win this award many more times throughout his career.

Been a Pens fan since the late 80s, and this new team is such a pleasure to watch, so I had to take a trip to Mellon Arena before it disappears to see my boys in action! Three rows from the glass behind the benches allowed me to get some great, upclose shots to remember my great evening. Crosby's cuter than Samberg, but only if you like hockey players.
More importantly--Crosby's a dynamo. Gretzky even says so.
