Size matters only if you can carry your weight
I am amazed that Albert Haynesworth (Fat Albert) is still around at the Redskins and even still in the NFL. He can’t carry his weight. I know that the stats show that he was as productive as many players last year, but I just remember his huffing and puffing and having trouble holding that weight up with his ankles. The man may be big, but he is fragile.
It is like watching a fat guy going up a flight of stairs and wondering at what point he collapses with a heart attack. I am not wishing that, but American sports audiences are always looking for the race car to crash or the heads to knock. With Albert, it’s just wondering when he will fall over.
From a football coach perspective, they just hope he falls onto the opposing offensive line and crushes a couple of them.
“Albert Haynesworth fails conditioning test again [updated]
Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth has failed his conditioning test for a second day in a row, team sources say. The team hit the practice field for the second day of training camp Friday morning, and Haynesworth was not among the group that took the field for the start
of practice.Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said Haynesworth would not be allowed to practice until he first passed the team's conditioning test. Haynesworth made his first attempt at the test on Thursday morning but couldn't pass.
In his comments following Thursday's practice, Shanahan didn't seem like he'd be willing to ease up on the test requirements. It's believed Haynesworth was required to complete two 300-yard shuttle sprints.
"It may take a week," Shanahan said. "We don't know. ...The only thing I can tell you is that when he does pass the test, I'll feel very good that he can go out there and compete at that position."”
